False promises, fallen leaders

In the shadows of a monied band of skyscrapers, bisected by a superhighway, Overtown, Liberty City and Little Haiti have been largely left to wither under the weight of broken promises and fallen leaders.

Wonderful article about the broken promises the impact of corruption on a large (and largely ignored) part of Miami's black community. Good job by the Herald's Audra Burch.

Who's left at Miami City Hall? Dais awaits change - MiamiHerald.com

According to Mayor Tomás Regalado, City Attorney Julie Bru was deciding between giving the governor a call, or using a strict interpretation of the charter, which says the ``remaining'' commissioners can make the call -- it doesn't mention a quorum. Bru did not respond to interview requests.

This is important, to say the least. It redraws the political landscape here in Miami.
